Darren and I FINALLY have an announcement... we're having a baby! We are super excited and have been pinching ourselves. We can't believe it's true. We are due around the middle of March. I am only about 5 weeks along, but already getting some morning sickness. We both can't wait till our little one comes in the spring.
Darren and I tried to think of clever ways of telling our families that I was pregnant. We first told my parents and took them to lunch. It was my mom's birthday the week before and I bought her a little birthday present. I gave her this book she is holding in the picture titled "I knew I loved you before you were born." I thought for sure she would get it, but she responded by saying "I have never read this book before." Luckily, I knew my mom probably would need more probing. So, I wrote in the book the following: "To my mom, my best friend. I hope the new addition is as close to you as I am!" My mom finally got it and was very happy for me. I have never seen my parents both have teary eyes before until then. I love them!
This was the funnest way to tell Darren's family. We were all meeting at a park for a farewell/happy birthday party for Jason (Darren's brother) going to the Air Force and Philip's (Darren's brother-n-law) birthday. We were all sitting down eating our food when Darren announced that he wanted to take a picture of everyone. He said "Ok everyone, on the count of three everyone say: 'Heather's pregnant!'" Needless to say we got the most classic picture that I will always cherish.

Happy 4th of July
Darren and I had so much fun this past week. On the 3rd we went to the annual Eaglewood fireworks where we live. We got Subway, cards and our blanket to spend the evening there. It was so fun. It reminded me of when we were engaged and we were in Oregon watching fireworks together. The one dumb thing I did, (ok maybe two dumb things)I totally was proud of myself and got everything together before Darren got off work. Put both camera and camcorder in the bag, the food, blankets, etc. When we got to Eaglewood. Darren pulled out the camcorder ready to document our fun night, but guess what I did?! I forgot to put a new tape in the camcorder. How was I suppose to know. At least we had our camera right? WRONG! Darren got it all charged the night before so it would have all its battery for this and 4th. Well, I do it again. I forgot to put in the battery. Darren just keep looking at me like "are you serious?" Needless to say we cant show any pictures of that, but we have tons of the 4th :).On the 4th Darren ran a 5k in Provo. He was so excited. His mom was running it to. It would be her first 5k race. Kudo's for her. I was so proud of Darren for running this race. He did so well although taking a pic and video taping at the same time seemed a lot harder then I thought it was going to be. After the race we went to magleby's for breakfast. They have the best french toast. So we of course had to get more. Later that day we went to my mothers house and had a BBQ with my sisters and their kids. I loved it. I am the baby hungry aunt. I enjoyed every minute of playing with all the kids.
Darren driving to the race at 6am. He is way pumped.
Darren at the finish line. He looks hot!
Darren, his mom, and sister linds, after the race.
I told Ally she could look like me if I could do her hair. So we are having fun. She then told me she thinks I should do her toenails too. lol.
Ally and I being twinners!

A fun filled day
Yesterday was quite a busy day for me. I woke up a little early and had to get ready for the a parade in our area. Our salon was going to be walking in the parade and handing out coupons. When I got to the area where we were going to meet our salon owner said that we had no one to carry the banner. The kids who were going to hold it canceled 30 mins prior. Me and the other stylist, Gwen, went to go find someone to help us. We are asking strangers to come be in our float. Free haircuts we even offered. Well, it worked. We got three ten year old little boys to come help us. They had fun and so did we.
Later that night, I went on a girls night out with a couple of Darren's sisters and his mother. We went to Macaroni Grill, then to the play, The Sound of Music. I had a blast chilling with everyone. Everyone needs a girls night out once in a while. It was also nice at the end of the night to go home to my baby, Dar. :)
Gwen, me and the three little boys who held our banner. They thought they were so cool. Later that afternoon they came into the salon to get their free haircuts we promised.
Our owner and her children our sitting in the back of this old fashion car throwing candy.
Me and my little "sis" Hayley at the play.
Me trying to take a picture of all of us.

A finished room
Darren and I are so excited. We finally finished a room in our apartment. He has been bugging me to get a rug and a curtain and today we finally found one we liked. So, Tada, here is a few pics of our living room.
I love my little black and white chair. Isn't it cute? Also, Darren and his mom found our tables in that room at a garage sell when we first got married. He painted them black and now they look awesome.
We have a really cool loft that is our study. I am taking a pic from there of my cute husband.

What's new:
Nothing much new. We're just living life and enjoying every bit of it. Here's a couple of my random thoughts:
I am coming up on six months with Sherwin-Williams. I have learned a lot, and am doing really well as I begin my career. I've decided this: I don't consider working for Sherwin-Williams a job. Instead, I consider it a jumpstart to my career. I've always been very intrigued in businesses and how they are run. Truly, this job has given me great opportunities to work in a lot of areas in a business: sales, marketing, operations management, managing people, accounting, statistics, etc.
Also, I've taken it upon myself to train for my second half-marathon in August. I'm about four weeks into my training, and finally running is becoming fun. For those of you that have run before, you know that the first 3-4 weeks (maybe a little more) are the hardest weeks to get through. I can now run 4-5 miles pretty easily without running out of breath. And let me tell you, when you run 4+ miles, you burn a lot of calories which basically means you lose a lot of weight. So far I've lost 13 pounds, and am nearing 200! Yea!
Lastly, Heather and I are happy it's summer! We love Bountiful so far, and we're excited to get out more and explore areas up here. Hope this post didn't bore you enough... but Heather likes it when I come on here occasionally to write.
I love to run!
I did my first scalp massage on Heather and this is how it turned out! HOT!!!!!!

We like Bountiful
Life has been pretty good so far. Darren and I are both busy working tons of hours at work. I am working atleast 40 hours at work and loving being that busy. My confidence has gone way up. I must say that my A-line haircuts are getting pretty amazing. Which I have always struggled with. I also can't believe how much better I have been getting paid. Bountiful people sure know how to tip! I had to fix a little girls A-line haircut the other day and I got a 20 dollar tip for a 10 min haircut. The one bad thing about this job, is that it's killer to see all these adorable kids and I am very baby hungry.

A day out with Jane
Today I got to babysit one of my adorable nieces. I get to babysit her every tuesday for the month of June to help my sister-n-law out. I want a baby so bad that this is so fun for me. Jane and I got to do alot of fun stuff today. We shopped, played, and played some more. My sister and mom came up. My sister brought her kids and we went to the Bountiful rec center. We had a blast. By the time my sister-n-law Tiffany came to pick up Jane I was exhausted. I got a very tiny glimpse at how mothers must feel. I can't wait to do it again next week. Thanks Tiffany for letting me take care of her!
Jane and her big beautiful smile and cool glasses that I just bought her.
Jane and my other neice Ally. They both liked each other alot!

Cookie Cutters
I started my new kids cut job last thursday. I have loved it! It's a totally different experience and I love every thing about it. The kids that come in are so excited to get their haircut. It's a very fun job. The tips are way better too! I guess Bountiful people know how to tip? One funny thing that happened is I was painting this 4 year olds nails. Darren walks in to surprise me and I blush and tell her that's my husband. The little girl turns to me and in a duh voice and says, "I already knew that was your husband." Ok so maybe you had to be there, but it was hilarious coming from a 4 year old. Anyway, everyone bring your kids to get their haircut here, it's adorable. You and your child will love it!

We've been tagged!
This is Darren. I will go first. I have work off today and tomorrow, so obviously I have a lot of time on my hand.
Where was I 10 years ago:
I was living in Tigard, Oregon going to Tualatin High School. Honestly, these were times I don't really feel like remembering. I was in high school and had no idea who I was, and was one of the only mormons at school. By the way, I hated high school.
Things to do on my list:
Right now I am focused on training for my 2nd Half Marathon, the Top of Utah Half Marathon. I suppose I will at least do a couple more of these before I ever run a Marathon. 13.1 miles is sufficient for me now :-)
Things I would do if I became a billionaire:
1) Make sure I pay tithing on it first
2) Give, give, give. I believe that with a lot of money comes responsibility. I would buy the necessities and then give in ways that I felt necessary.
3 of my bad habits:
1) Biting cubicles. This all started when I was probably 12 or so because I saw my mom biting her fingernails. Now that I think about it, I have done this probably for over half of my life... sad...
2) Texting
3) Moving shoulders when nervous
5 places I've lived:
1) Bountiful, Utah
2) Tigard, Oregon
3) Columbia, South Carolina
4) Yorba Linda, California
5) Sao Paulo, Brazil
5 jobs I've had:
1) Telemarketer
2) Caterer
3) Warehouse worker
4) Door-to-door salesman
5) Assistant Manager
Something most people don't know about me:
I'm anal with a lot of things, just ask Heather. I think I got this from my parents... Blah! I get anxiety when the house gets dirty and cluttery. I get anal when spending money. Etc.
4 people I tag:
1) Hayley
2) Tiffany
3) Jason
4) Lindsey

In mourning
It was a sad sad night last night. I had a little American Idol party, in hopes that David Archuletta would win. He lost. :( I wish he would of won, but I am seriously ok with it. Darren all night kept saying, "Oh baby, I am soo sorry David lost." It was cute, but really I was cool with it. It's probably better with him being mormon not to be as controlled with American Idol. Also, they interviewed him after the finale and he said he already has had offers for record deals. I am thinking with Sony records. So in reality what did David Cook win that David Archuletta didnt? He got the car, he got a contract. Oh, he didn't get the title American Idol.
I am also excited David A, said he wants to do a cd like John Mayer stuff. That sounds awesome. I hope he does well with it. I am going to be the first one in line to buy it.

What I've (Darren) been up to lately...
I have been staying busy with life, and I just thought I'd post a couple of pictures. I had a great birthday. I got up at 7 for an early meeting in Salt Lake, then worked until 6. Just after 6 we all had dinner at Winger's then headed off to the Jazz vs. Lakers game with Jason, Phillip, and Dad. The game was a bummer (Jazz lost), which really put a damper on my day. But what really made my day was all the very thoughtful gifts and acts of love from my family, and especially Heather.
Heather really made my birthday a special one in so many ways. She even put up with me for 5 hours at the E Center watching Dave Ramsey (which by the way was awesome!) the day after. We ended up at the new Tucano's restaurant at the Gateway mall and then shopped for a couple hours afterwards. Heather got a new pair of sunglasses and a new summer purse, both of which are well deserved and long waited for.
Life is great. I love Heather with every piece of everything that I am. She is amazing and exceeds my expectations every day. I couldn't be any happier... that is, until we probably start a family.
Here's some pictures:This is us about two weeks ago before the Rockets vs. Jazz game. We went to Iggy's before the game and pigged out!
I had the chance to work the sidelines of a Real Salt Lake soccer game recently. I basically held this parabolic dish and followed the ball the whole game to pick up sound for T.V. It was a way cool experience to be right next to the players.
This is us (including Grandpa) eating at Winger's on my birthday.
Phillip, Jason, and me on my birthday at the Jazz vs. Lakers game. Too bad we lost... oh well, better luck next year!
This was perhaps the funniest part of the night. This guy sitting next to my dad is from Preston, ID. For those of you who don't know where or what Preston is, it's the city that Napoleon Dynamite was filmed. I kid you not, if there ever was such thing as a redneck, this guy was it. For some reason he kept standing up and talking with Dad about weird redneck stuff. But hey, the two really hit it off!!! LOL!
This is me right before the Dave Ramsey seminar holding my "Total Money Makeover" book written by Dave Ramsey. This book has changed our lives! We are well on our way to having ZERO debt including no credit card debt, no car debt (owning both cars) and ZERO student loan debt.
I know you can't see it very well but this is a view from our seats, 3rd row! It was so cool to see Dave live in person. Cash is king and debt is dumb!

Cookie Cutters
I ventured out of my comfort zone AGAIN and got a new job with cutting hair. I loved the job I had, but with gas prices going up it was getting to expensive to drive to Kaysville and back. Well, A new salon is opening up tomorrow called Cookie Cutters. It's a kid salon and I got a job there. A lot of people might think I am crazy. I just love cutting kids hair. This is right up my ally. Plus, it's 5 mins. from my apartment. This new salon is soo adorable. They give little manicures to the little girls. The kids get there hair cut in a cool chair. When the kids first walk in they get to choose a video game or a dvd to put in while they get their haircut. In the waiting room is this huge playground with a slide. When they are all done with the cut, they get to pick a sucker, balloon and a cookie cutter. It's genius! Oh and any kids with little girls, they have a little section that they sell bows exclusively at this salon. I am excited to start this new adventure. Wish me luck. I might need it. This isn't the store I am working at, but this is the store they have in SLC.
This is part of the waiting area in the SLC store. You can also see the area they sell the cute bows and kid product line.
This is what each station looks like. A tv and a very cute chair the kids get to pick out. COOL!

Mother's Day
This past Mothers Day was a hard day for me. As some of you know, I want a baby really bad. I am almost 29 years old and have no children. I am ok with that. I just never knew how emotionally draining it gets to want a baby and every month a dissapointment. Some of you understand this and some of you dont. Yesterday was going to be a great day for me. I was hoping I was pregnant and I got to be with some of the people I loved. I got way excited for that day. I stayed up the night before making homemade dill hamburgar buns and made homemade brownies. They both turned out delicious. Mothers Day comes and guess what comes? Yes, my monthly. Not just any monthly. The one that hurts so much you feel like your going to die. So it's Mother's Day and I am in the worst pain. I went home and just layed in bed emotional. Thank goodness I have the best husband in the world. He totally knows how to take good care of me. Darren I couldn't ask for anything more from you. I love you. Now I normally wouldn't write something like this, but I really want to let my feelings out and when I finally have a precious baby in my arms, I can remember what I went through and how it's not the end of the world. If something else happens I will know things pass and this too shall pass.

A sunday with my fam
I know some of you might think "so when did Heather and Darren have a kid?" You didn't miss anything, we didnt have a kid. Darren and I went to my nephew(shown in the above pic) Tian's baby blessing. Isn't he a big chunk and totally adorable. Well we had a lot of fun chilling with my family. We gotta spend some time with my sister and brothers kids.
Darren is looking like a cool uncle!
Lyric, Tian's sister posing for me.
Lauren drinking and walking. Not a good combo, esp when she is headed straight for me and the camera :)

I have an addiction
Ever since we moved Darren has gotten me hooked on frozen Custard from Nelsens. They are to die for. I can't get enough of these things. They are better then milk shakes. So every couple weeks we go get one. My favorite flavor is Brownie and caramel. YUM! Darren always gets Oreo. If you haven't tried them you are totally missing out! I am licking my lips as I write this post.

I am getting old
As many of you know, I absolutely love my job as a hairdresser. Darren has been nothing but supportive. He is enjoying that I always have cash in my purse. He also loves that my dress code is I have to have my hair done everyday. I get along with all the girls great. Well, the topic says I am getting old. It's true. A few days ago the girls and I decided how to change my hair up. They added tons of short layers and a richer color. As one girl was applying the color she informed me that I have gray hair. YES! Gray hair! I freaked out. I know I am almost 30 years old, but for some reason the first time you get gray hairs it freaks you out. I knew it was coming and it has finally arrived. I have gray hairs and getting old. :)

Me with my new color and layers. Really it's different. haha
A few people wanted to see where I worked. Well, here it is. That's my station at the salon I work at.

Reflections...
Hey y'all, this is Darren. I know I don't come on here much, but I have work off today and tomorrow and decided to come on here and spill what's going through my head. ***WARNING*** This might be long and a big ramble, but for some reason I just feel like speaking my mind right now, don't ask me why (don't you think blogs are kind of like modern-day journals? I hope they never go away).
Anyways, work is going great for me. I have been with Sherwin-Williams for 3 1/2 months now, and am loving it. It's a great job. In fact, these past two years, Fortune Magazine has rated Sherwin-Williams in its "Top 100 companies to work for". Ok ok, I know it's been rated like #98 both years, but just think of all the thousands and thousands of companies in America, and this magainze decides to rank us in the top 100 best to work for. I could go on and on why this is probably so, but suffice it to say I love my job so far and it's been a great start to my post-college career.
I've really been reflecting on my marriage a lot lately and I decided to make a little list of reflections of things I've learned and love since I 've been married to my sweetheart Heather. These are in no particular order, I'll just write them as they come to my head. Also, as a note, these all might seem very simple if you just browse over them, but those of you that are married know that a simple phrase can mean so much more than the few words said. In other words, these all have a lot of meaning to me.
1- Heather has been everything I expected plus more. When I met her and was in the first stages of dating, I knew she was very special. However, she has exceeded every expectation of mine a hundred fold.
2- Honestly, when we argue and get in fights, about 90% of the time Heather is usually right. I don't know how she has the patience to deal with my nastiness sometimes, but she does and she's amazing.
3- Marriage is fun. Heather is by far my best friend. I tell her almost everything and everything. The stuff I don't tell her is sometimes better not said (again, I can be nasty and rude) and moat of the time not true.
4- Somehow we find ways to get through things. I don't know how, but we do (I bet most of you can relate).
5- Heather has made me be a better person in many ways. Again, I don't know how she does it, but she is amazing.
6- For the most part, n-laws are great (parents, siblings, etc.). However, you can only spend so much time with them before you just want to be with your spouse (and probably kids too-- this I don't know for sure yet).
7- I'm thankful Heather lets me watch sports. I remember taking a girl out on a first date once to a BYU football game and it was horrible! I don't know how she lets me watch so much sports, but for me watching sports gets my mind off other things.
Anyways, there's many more things to talk about, but suffice it to say I have loved every second of being married to Heather. She had definately made me a much better person in life in so many ways. I continue to love her more each day of my wife. I am very blessed and lucky to have found Heather!

American Idol
I loved last night. I don't know how many of you watched last night, but it was one of my favorite nights. It might be because I love Mariah Carey. So the reason I am posting this is I have to admit when I am wrong, well somewhat. This whole season I have not liked David Cook. I just have thought he was not as great as everyone is saying. Well, I am wrong. Last night was my favorite performances that he sang. He sang, You Will Always Be My Baby. Wow, he nailed it! I even liked his perfomance better than David Archuletta's. He got my vote last night. For those of you still wondering, "Does Heather still like David Archuletta better?" The answer is yes. He is still my favorite and I hope he wins. :) Go David Archulleta!!!

The BIG Master golf tournament is over and I have my husband back right?
Wrong! This past week has been a sport filled week and I missed my husband. Darren loves golf. I mean really really loves golf. Once a year they have The Masters on tv. All the great golfers play. I don't know a lot of their names, but Tiger Woods plays. Anyway, once a year Darren is glued to this tournament. All weekend I was trying to understand golf so I could be with him, but a girl can only watch so much of it(especially when it's a 4 day event, that lasts hours) Then after that was over for the day there would be basketball. So the Masters ended today. I got my husband back, that is until the basketball playoffs start in a week. Girls night anyone?

A new apartment and it smells like bread. :)
Darren and I are all moved in and we absolutely love it. We went to Ikea and bought a bunch of cool stuff for our apartment. I am loving decorating for the first time. It's fun. We love that the commute is a lot less then the hour each way we were both commuting. PHEW, that's over! As shown in the picture I am also loving being a homemaker again. I made my first batch of homemade bread. Yeah I know its not the prettiest, but boy does it smell good in our house. I plan on getting better and making more in the future. If anyone has any awesome recipes, send them our way!
